It would be wonderful if, as you set off on this new practice, everything was calm and peaceful. You could easily navigate throughout your day with ease and contentment.
And you will have days like that! Every choice you make will be the absolutely correct character choice in the moment. You will know in advance as you walk into any situation, exactly how you will be to get the results you want. You will have the physical characterizations well-rehearsed and project them effortlessly.
In fact, it will almost be an automatic response to the circumstances!
Some of these easier choices will be because the character is one that you are aware of and have used on numerous occasions. Perhaps it is close to the “you” that you feel you know well and have no trouble portraying.
Others may be ones that were an easy shift for you because they were similar to a character you were very familiar with, or the situation happened so frequently that it was an easy character for you to add to your list of possibilities.
Just a word of caution! Don’t let this lull you into a false sense of wellbeing! While these characters might be easy for you to portray, they might not always be the perfect one for a particular situation.
I certainly don’t mean to alarm you, but just be mindful of the situation, your response to it and the results. The “Duplicate” template in the workbooks asks you to review “Desired outcome, Actual outcome, What could I have done differently and Notes for next time.” This allows you to exam any situation and be much better prepared when something similar occurs again.
It is only by being prepared that the best YOU will easily appear – just like paddling on calm waters!
To Being Heard,
Linda
